World's first listed law firm makes triple acquisitionSlater & Gordon has continued its aggressive acquisition drive and acquired three regional firms taking its total number of offices to 24.

The firm took on NSW-based Crane Butcher McKinnon in Coffs Harbour and Nagle & McGuire in Nowra and Edwin Abdo & Associates in Bunbury, Western Australia.

"We specifically targeted these three regions as areas of strong growth potential for our business," said Slater & Gordon managing director Andrew Grech.

Slater & Gordon has been on an acquisition drive since it's A$35m (£14.67m) listing on the Australian Stock Exchange last May. The firm acquired Brisbane-based D-Arcys Solicitors in July and New South Wales-based McClellands last August.

He added that the three firms are forecasted to increase the firm's turnover by A$4.5m (£1.9m) and that if the acquisitions are completed by early 2008, the practices will contribute A$1m-1.5m (£430,000-650,000) to its revenue this financial year.

Crane, Butcher McKinnon is a family and commercial law outfit housing 17 staff while Nagle & McGuire is a small personal injuries practice. Edwin Abdo & Associates specialises on commercial law.

Grech also announced that the firm is planning to establish offices in Southport and on the Gold Coast.
