What was your first-ever job?
Cleaning the inside of milk churns at a local dairy.
What was your worst experience as a trainee?
Calling a witness whose only evidence was inadmissible hearsay (having had a statement thrust into my hand as we were going into court, and not reading it properly before calling the witness).
What do you do at weekends?
Anything but work. I spend as much time with my family as I can.
What’s your favourite restaurant?
Magees on Carlingford Loch or Royal China in London for dim sum.
If you weren’t a lawyer what would you have been?
A doctor. Or Mick Jagger.
What’s your favourite film?
The Shawshank Redemption or The Usual Suspects.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Who’s your hero and why?
My mother, for the way she ran her business and always seeming to have time for those who worked with and for her. On a personal level, for her encouragement and unconditional love and support.
What’s the best thing about your job?
What’s the toughest thing about your job?
What’s your biggest work/career mistake and what did you learn from it?
Not forming Artesian Law sooner. The lesson - act on your instincts.
What’s the most exciting deal/case you’ve worked on and why?
Always the one I am currently doing.
If you were stranded on a desert island what two luxury items would you take?
My iPad and my BlackBerry.
If a movie was being made about your life, which actor would play you and why?
Sylvester Stallone, because of the similarity in our physiques.
Who would you least like to be stuck in a lift with and why?
A friend of mine called David Taylor. We were stuck once and he’s claustrophobic…
Tell us two truths and one lie about yourself (in any order)…
I don’t suffer fools gladly; I have a quick temper; I have the patience of a saint.
