WongPartnership hires partner for dispute resolution operation

Singapore’s WongPartnership has kick-started its Chinese dispute resolution practice with the appointment of the former executive director of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre.

As first revealed on www.thelawyer.com/lawyer
news last Tuesday (1 June), Ang Yong Tong joined the firm’s fledgling Shanghai office as a partner at the start of the month. He will be responsible for setting up WongPartnership’s Chinese dispute resolution practice.

The Shanghai representative office is WongPartnership’s first overseas office, and was launched last month.
Yong Tong is the latest in a string of senior lawyers to have joined Wong Partnership in the past year. Last October, Choo Wai Hong, the former head of Allen & Gledhill’s fund practice, joined to spearhead the firm’s regional funds practice, which was launched with its joint venture partner Clifford Chance.

Meanwhile, in November 2003, Christopher Chuah, the head of Drew & Napier’s construction law practice, joined as a partner.

Yong Tong held his previous position since 1998.
