Leading Australian law firm Freehill Hollingdale & Page has been ranked top dog of legal advisers to Australian mergers and acquisitions in 1997 - just pipping rival Allens Arthur Robinson. The firm advised on the three largest completed deals of the year - the privatisation of Loy Yang A Power Station, the acquisition of Advance Bank by St George Bank and the acquisition of PowerNet Victoria by GPU Inc. The survey, conducted by Corporate Adviser Securities Data, ranked firms on deal value and market share.
