South West firm Withy King is the latest to sign a delegated authority deal with an after-the-event insurer.
The firm has signed up with FirstAssist Legal Protection, a specialist insurer that has a similar deal with Pinsent Masons.
A delegated authority deal means Withy King will be able to assess the merits of cases before putting in place funding packages for clients with clinical negligence claims.
Withy King clinical negligence head Simon Elliman said legal costs were a growing concern for litigants wanting to access the courts, making alternative funding an attractive proposition.
“We’ve been looking for a provider that has a comprehensive product offering as well as experience of handling clinical negligence cases,” Elliman said. “Our partnership with FirstAssist means we can help clients fund litigation costs as well improve the process.”
