US firm Winston & Strawn has hired Norton Rose finance partner Andrei Yakovlev to strengthen its Russian practice.
Yakovlev will split his time between Winston & Strawn’s London and Moscow offices, as he did while at Norton Rose. Winston & Strawn currently has three other partners who spend part of their time in Moscow and part of their time elsewhere in the world.
He focuses on international debt and equity capital markets, M&A and sovereign finance matters, with a particular emphasis on the emerging markets of Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Yakovlev also has experience in international arbitrations involving finance and foreign investment.
Winston & Strawn’s managing partner Tom Fitzgerald said Yakovlev’s hire would enable the firm to services increased corporate finance activity from emerging markets. Fitzgerald said this activity was strategically important for the firm’s growth.
