Winston & Strawn has bagged a three-lawyer team from Salans’ Paris office in a move to strengthen its arbitration and litigation practices.
Salans partner Bruno Leurent joined Winston & Strawn as a partner at the end last year, along with two associates.
The hires bring the number of partners at Winston & Strawn in Paris to 14, and follow the appointment of Shearman & Sterling European counsel Robert Flanigan in October 2005 as a partner in the firm’s corporate team.
Leurent acts both as counsel and arbitrator and is on a number of international arbitration panels.
Paris managing partner Vincent Sol said the hires complemented an already strong litigation and arbitration team in France working with a “unique team” worldwide.
Sol added that Leurent’s arrival would be followed by further appointments in Paris across a range of practice areas over the course of the next two years, and that the aim was to increase the size of the office to 60 lawyers in that period.
