Stephanie Liston, the co-head of Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr’s European communications and e-commerce group, has been appointed a non-executive director of Ofcom.
Liston will have to resign her partnership of Wilmer Cutler so she does not share in profits derived from regulated industries. She will continue at Wilmer four days a week as counsel but will not be able to advise any of her regulated clients.
Liston said: "I am excited, thrilled and not a little surprised."
Prior to joining Wilmer Cutler in June 2003, Liston was at McDermott Will & Emery, which she joined from Baker & McKenzie. She is on the board of directors of the European Competitive Telecommunications Association (ECTA), is co-chairman of the communications committee of the International Bar Association and the co-founder of Women in Telecoms and Technology.
Other non-executive directors are Lord Currie of Marylebone (chairman), Richard Hooper (deputy chairman and chairman of the content board), Millie Banerjee, Ian Hargreaves and Sara Nathan. The executive directors are Stephen Carter (chief executive), Kip Meek and Ed Richards.
