Latham & Watkins has poached four competition partners from US rival Wilmer Cutler & Pickering to launch a Brussels office. When it opens, the office will be Latham's fifth in Europe; it already has branches in London, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Paris. The new base will concentrate on competition law, supporting the antitrust operations of the other European offices. Marc Hanson and John Kallaugher from Wilmer Cutler's London office, and Andreas Weibrecht and Paul Poitras from its Brussels office will help launch Latham's new branch. Wilmer Cutler's Brussels office now has just five partners and will be hit hard by the loss.
