Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr has become the latest foreign firm to launch an office on the Chinese mainland.
As first revealed on www.thelawyer.com last Tuesday (23 November), the firm has launched a Beijing office to capitalise on the booming Chinese economy.
The launch represents a milestone for the newly merged Wilmer Cutler and Hale and Dorr as it gives them their first Asian office. The Beijing office will be headed by partner Lester Ross and will focus on corporate and regulatory matters as well as IP issues.
In a statement, the firm’s joint managing partners William Lee and William Perlstein said: “We offer end-to-end service in Beijing, whether the need is transactions, IP or government regulation and public affairs.”
Weil Gotshal & Manges has also recently moved into the Chinese mainland. It opened its first branch in mainland China after securing a licence to launch a Shanghai office.
Wilmer Cutler and Hale and Dorr announced their surprise merger in May.
