Media specialist Wiggin has bolstered its film and television offering with the hire of a Reed Smith partner and a senior in-house lawyer from Walt Disney Pictures.
Neil Gillard joins David Quli as co-head of the media finance group. At Reed Smith he advised financiers, producers, broadcasters and distributors.
He is joined at Wiggin by Walt Disney’s vice president of legal affairs, Vickie Cameron, who becomes a consultant in the live action motion picture group, focusing on development and production.
Gillard’s arrival brings the partner count in the TV and film team to four out of a total of 12 lawyers.
“Neil joining us is very much to increase the media finance we’re doing and deepen […] relationships with clients,” Quli said, adding that Gillard brings “great depth” to the team.
He said Cameron was joining the firm to support Charles Moore and Miles Ketley, the founders of the film, in production work and cast deals.
“What she brings is that high-level expertise in registration deals and putting together financing deals,” he said.
Last month Wiggin launched a trademark filing practice with the hire of Withers & Rogers partner Laurel McBray as a consultant (4 July 2011).
