Wierzbowski Eversheds set to be topic partner at class actions debate in Warsaw

Wierzbowski Eversheds is to be a topic partner for a debate entitled ‘Class Actions: Law and Practice’, which will be held on 16 January 2014 at the Press Centre of the Polish Press Agency (PAP) in Warsaw. 

The purpose of the debate is to exchange views on the functioning of Poland’s Class Actions Act of 2009 and to discuss how it might be amended.

The issues to be discussed will include: the filing of class actions and the consideration of class actions by the courts; reasons for the lengthy nature of the proceedings; and desirable amendments to the Class Actions Act.

The guest of honour at the debate will be Wojciech Węgrzyn, deputy minister of justice. Also participating in the debate will be Łódź Court of Appeal judge Wiesława Kuberska, City of Warsaw consumer advocate Małgorzata Rothert, MP Ryszard Kalisz and attorney Marek Niedużak.

Wierzbowski Eversheds will be represented by attorney Iwo Gabrysiak, the partner in charge of the firm’s litigation team, who served as counsel to a group of 1,247 consumers in a class action against BRE Bank.
