White & Case swipes first UK tax partner

White & Case is taking on its first UK tax partner from City rival Denton Wilde Sapte.

Neil Woodgate has been a partner in the tax department at Wilde Sapte (now Denton Wilde Sapte) since 1996. He specialises in the tax aspects of banking and finance transactions, and will work closely on structuring deals with the asset finance team when he joins White & Case.

At Denton Wilde Sapte Woodgate has worked with banks including Barclays and HSBC.

He joins an asset finance group working with companies such as General Electric Civil Aviation Services.

Woodgate says: “This is really about what I can add to what they are doing. White & Case have a huge amount of vision about building a global law firm and they need a tax person in London.”

Woodgate joins tax counsel Anthony Concanon, the former head of tax at CMS Cameron McKenna, who moved to White & Case last August.
