The Lawyer Global Litigation Top 50 report is the only ranking of international law firms by litigation and arbitration revenue and is essential reading for anyone seeking to benchmark their litigation and dispute resolution practices...
This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
White & Case has taken a partner from disintegrating Benelux firm Loeff Claeys Verbeke in order to re-establish a presence in the Indonesian capital Jakarta.
Loeffs partner Theodore Bakker was based at Indonesian law firm Ali Budiardjo Nugroho Reksodiputro (ABNR).
A Loeffs insider says Bakker's move to US law firm White & Case was directly related to Loeffs' decision to split up and merge with A&O.
The senior source says: "We don't have an office there. We have a cooperation agreement with an Indonesian law firm called ABNR. Bakker will just stay on there but instead of working for us he will be working for White & Case. For them this was an opportunity."
White & Case pulled out of Jakarta after the Indonesian bar put an end to foreign firms using consulting offices as a way to get around the rule that foreign firms are not allowed to practise (The Lawyer, 15 February).
However, sources say the US firm was keen to resume a foothold to continue working on lucrative government contracts.
