White & Case partner quits over strategy

White & Case securities partner Tim Jeveons has left the London office amid disagreements over the firm’s strategic direction.

Jeveons is leaving just as White & Case completes its global partnership review. It has not been confirmed where he will go. It is understood that he was concerned about the London office’s profitability and focus.

A source close to the firm said: “It seems the London office is moving back to a projects-based practice. There are serious concerns about the securities practice and the finance practice as a whole.”

Earlier this year UBS relationship partner Rachel Hatfield left the firm after becoming disaffected because of the strategy (TheLawyer.com, 27 March).

Jeveons played a crucial role in developing the London finance practice as a key relationship partner for Deutsche Bank, Barclays and Merrill Lynch.

A firm spokesperson confirmed the resignation. Jeveons declined to comment.
