White & Case opens in Romania" />White & Case is the newest entrant into the Romanian legal market, opening a Bucharest office with former Linklaters lawyer Todd Shollenbarger.
The Romania office is the firm's 37th and will be led by Shollenbarger, who joins from the Bucharest office of a private equity house. He will lead a team of 10 lawyers focused on real estate, finance, energy and private equity.
Jan Matejcek, executive partner for White & Case in Prague and one of the architects of the firm's Romania push, said: "Moving into Bucharest is a natural extension of the large amount of work we've been doing in Romania for clients in recent years, particularly in M&A, private equity and real estate.
He added: "A number of our clients have been asking us for some time about the potential development of on-the-ground capabilities in Romania, and to begin with, we will focus on meeting this latent demand."
A team of eastern European partners coordinated the office launch, including Rob Irving in Budapest, Michal Dlouhy in Bratislava and Witold Danilowicz in Warsaw.
