Ashurst has hired restructuring partner Dan Hamilton from White & Case to strengthen the team in its London office.
Last week The Lawyer revealed that Ashurst’s partner vote on Hamilton’s hire was closing last Friday (10 August 2009).
Ashurst restructuring managing partner Mark Vickers said Hamilton’s appointment was a direct response to the demand for advisers who combine specialised debt restructuring expertise with a knowledge of the complex financing structures that were put in place at the height of the bull market, “particularly in the field of leveraged finance”.
Hamilton has been a partner at White & Case for seven years focusing on corporate and financial restructuring and non-contentious insolvency.
At White & Case he led the team that advised on the administration of Icelandic bank Baugur. Hamilton was instructed by PricewaterhouseCoopers administrators Tony Lomas and Zelf Hussain.
Hamilton’s hire comes after several departures from White & Case in recent months. Earlier this month The Lawyer reported on capital markets partner Tim Jeveons moving to Greenberg Traurig Maher (6 August 2009).
His move came after White & Case’ UBS relationship partner Rachel Hatfield left the firm in March after becoming dissatisfied with the US firm’s strategy (27 March 2009).

A blow for white and case and great move for Ashurst. Dan's a strong lawyer and a very popular colleague.

Yawn* - Why when there is something about W&C does someone always post the same one liner saying that the "ship is sinking"....... no matter what the article is about.... Wishful thinking perhaps.
