Head of the firm's bank advisory practice since 1981, Wall - who spent six years in White and Case's London office - was voted in unanimously and will succeed Hurlock on April 1.
Heavily involved in the recent consolidation of the global banking industry, Wall has represented Deutsche Bank in its acquisition of Bankers Trust, and Swiss Bank Corporation in its merger with Union Bank of Switzerland.
Hurlock was elected chairman of White & Case's management committee in 1980 and re-elected to nine additional two-year terms before reaching mandatory retirement age.
