Isn’t it funny how the news that your law firm is collapsing can invoke differing reactions? Lawyers at the London office of a certain suffering US law firm, or as we at The Lawyer call them, ‘they who shall not be named’, had their own very individual ways of coping with the imminent closure of their firm.
Apparently, one very senior US lawyer was seen sitting in his office chuffing a large cigar as Rome fell around him. Coolness under pressure personified.
Meanwhile, another senior UK lawyer was, according to sources, in tears as spoke about the firm’s future. Rumours that this UK lawyer was seen rubbing onions into his eyes before giving his heart-rending speech are, of course, entirely unfounded.
