The head of legal at consumer body Which? has left the organisation, claiming it is unwilling to look at reforms to its services.
The Lawyer understands that Gordon Wilson left the organisation without another job to go to after disagreeing with finance and operations director Martin Webster over the future of Which? Legal Service.
A source close to Which? claimed Wilson wanted to make changes to the legal services provided, but Webster did not feel the same way.
“With the Legal Services Act coming in, Gordon thought Which? had a lot of potential to radicalise its service, but apparently Webster is happy for it to carry on ticking over,” said the insider. “For Gordon, being a caretaker was just not good enough.”
Webster was unavailable for comment, but a Which? spokeswoman said: “There was ;no ;longstanding disagreement between Martin and Gordon at all. Gordon had only been with Which? for a year, so that’s not the case. Martin Webster will continue to look at the direction of the legal services.
“We’re currently recruiting a replacement for Gordon, but in the meantime Martin continues to oversee the direction of Which? Legal Service and it is very much business as usual.”
