Watson Farley & Williams has set up an Italian partnership in a bid to capitalise on the projects market
The firm has hired four lawyers from the Rome office of Carnelutti to launch the practice under the Watson Farley brand. The team is led by Carnelutti associate Eugenio Tranchino, who will have local partnership status and has already worked with Watson Farley. Watson Farley plans to expand the office, focusing on the energy and finance sectors. The office was prompted by growing client activity in Italy, as a result of changes in Italian energy regulations. Watson Farley is currently advising on three power projects including the high profile Montenero di Bisaccia 400 MW CCGT being developed jointly by Horizon Energy and Rome municipal utility ACEA.
