Weil Gotshal & Manges has gained one new partner in its London office as part of a promotions round that has seen its partnership headcount increase by seven.
Of counsel Joanne Etherton (pictured), who joined the firm from Clifford Chance in 2000, has made partner within the firm's London corporate pensions practice. She takes up the new position at the beginning of January.
London managing partner Mike Francies said: "Pensions aspects are a key part of most types of transactions we do from M&A and private equity through to refinancings and restructurings and we are fortunate to have someone of the calibre of Joanne to lead us in this important area."
Of the other six joining the partnership, three are based in Prague, two in New York and one in Houston. The firm has also promoted six to the of counsel role, two of whom are in New York and two in Warsaw with one in Miami and Washington DC.
The total number of promotions at the firm has dropped since last year when London gained two new partners out of 21.
