Weil Gotshal & Manges has recruited the chief operating officer for legal & compliance at Bear Stearns as its new global executive director.
David Strumeyer will be responsible for the administration of the firm's overall operations and will be based in its New York City headquarters.

"His strong operational and financial experience and exceptional management and communication skills will serve him well in his new position and complement the firm's collaborative, interdisciplinary approach very well."
Strumeyer joins Weil on 3 March, 2008. At Bear Stearns, Strumeyer was responsible for day-to-day global operations and planning for the company's 500-person legal and compliance department.
Prior to joining Bear Stearns, Strumeyer was executive director and chief administrative officer of Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft. He replaces Brad Scott, who left Weil at the end of 2007 to join Heller Ehrman.
