Weil Gotshal makes up three in lean promotions round

Partner promotions at Weil Gotshal & Manges have decreased for the second year running.
The US firm has added just three to the partnership in its New York, Silicon Valley and Budapest offices, in the practice areas of finance and restructuring, patent litigation and dispute resolution practice areas.
Last year The Lawyer reported that the firm added seven to the partnership including London-based corporate pensions lawyer Joanne Etherton. Promotion numbers have dropped significantly since 2007 when the firm made up a total of 21.
Of the other six joining the partnership last year, three were in Prague, two in New York and one in Houston.
Yesterday The Lawyer reported that Latham & Watkins promoted a total of 23 to the partnership including two in London.
The firm also promoted six associates to counsel this year.
