Weil Gotshal & Manges is eagerly awaiting the green light from French firm Serra Leavy & Cazals to enter exclusive talks with the Paris boutique
But while it is understood that not all partners at Serra are committed to the deal, the feeling at Weil Gotshal is that they can be convinced. While the US firm waits for the go-ahead, it is being inundated with approaches from French firms keen to be snapped up by an international player. Recent talks with Veil Armfelt Jourde La Garanderie have come to a halt, but Weil Gotshal is understood to be open to new options. Because of its longstanding relationship with Serra, however, the boutique is still seen as the most desirable option. The general consensus is that a deal will be announced this month; and while Weil Gotshal declined to comment on the matter, the firm has said in the past that it is committed to France. The talks are being led by partner Joseph Tortorici.
