Weil Gotshal & Manges has appointed its DC litigation head to managing partner of the firm’s DC office.
The New York-based giant’s co-head of products liability and mass tort litigation, Michael Lyle, will replace incumbent David Berz, who stands down from the post after 18 years.
Lyle will continue to practice in the DC litigation group, while Berz will return to full time head of the firm’s environmental practice.
Lyle said: “The firm will be focusing on building on David’s work during his 18 years in this role.
“DC is an important office to Weil and we will continue to expand the office and diversify the practice areas we have.”
In May this year, Weil bulked up in DC by snaring a three-lawyer patent litigation team consisting of Mark Davis, Ronald Pabis and Brian Ferguson from McDermott Will & Emery.
Lyle added: “Weil is a global firm and we are increasingly thinking about how we as an office can contribute to the global development of the firm. It’s exciting to be a part of that.”
