Weightmans confirms acquisition of Vizards Wyeth's insurance practice

North West firm Weightmans has confirmed that its plan to acquire Vizards Wyeth’s insurance team will go ahead.
The deal, which will go live on 1 April, was first reported in January (7 January 2011).
Around 25 lawyers, including 13 partners, will join Weightmans as a result of the merger. It is not yet known what will happen to the rest of the firm.
“Vizards Wyeth has a strong insurance litigation practice, great clients and excellent people, and we’ll consolidate our position in the South East with this acquisition,” said Weightmans managing partner Patrick Gaul.
Merger talks with North West employment and dispute resolution specialists Mace & Jones continue and Weightmans expects terms to be agreed in the coming weeks.
