Weightmans bucks insurance slump with record revenue hike

Weightmans has announced a record increase in turnover at the year end of 15 per cent in its year, taking last year’s revenues of £38m to £43m.

The firm has also announced a provisional profit per equity partner (PEP) figure of £282,000 compared to last year’s £265,000.

Weightmans managing partner Patrick Gaul commented: “We have had a great year and we have seen growth in areas such as insurance but also across other practice areas that have proved to be strong for us.”

Last year (8 May 2006) The Lawyer reported the firm’s dramatic 25per cent increase In PEP, signifying its climb out of decline after the firm reported a PEP figure of £145,000 in 2004.

Weightman’s has succeeded in advancing its insurance practice after the firm and other North West firm’s insurance practices suffered losses in recent years.
