The exodus of Linklaters corporate partners is continuing following the departure of Rupert Weber.
Weber, who has been a partner since 1998, is leaving Linklaters to join Maitland & Co’s corporate team as a director, based in London.
He is the third corporate partner to leave the magic circle firm since it announced a reorgnisation of its London corporate group (first revealed in The Lawyer, 20 September).
In September, senior Linklaters corporate partner Tom Wethered quit to join KPMG International as the accountancy firm’s first UK general counsel.
Meanwhile, last month Shearman & Sterling’s London office hired Linklaters corporate partner John Ellard as of counsel.
During his time at Linklaters, Weber played a leading role in the launch of the firm’s German practice and its subsequent merger with Oppenhoff & Radler.
Maitland, which was launched in Luxembourg in 1976 provides international corporate, tax and wealth management solutions to South African-linked businesses and individuals.
