What with the credit crunch hitting and economic doom and gloom on every horizon, jobs can be few and far between. For that reason you might have to take what you can get, and Services To Lawyers (www.servicestolawyers. com) is the place to do it.

The latest opportunity on the site is to become the legal forum moderator of a social networking site for motorcyclists.

Apparently the job involves “emailing our database of cycle owners in your area”.

It looks like the glamour of the great open road will not be part of the job, but the site still does its best to build up enthusiasm.

The ad says: “If you are a motorcycle accident lawyer, jump on this! Decision makers call today for details. Please, don’t have your paralegal or intern call.”

Now that’s a good way to go about making a first impression.

Bristows might not be the coolest, hippest law firm in town, but it is trying. As one of the last all-equity City partnerships the firm is bidding to update its image, and that means sinking a bit of cash into a brand spanking new website (www.bristows.com).

The first thing the casual viewer will notice is the psychedelic Buddhist prayer wheel expanding into infinity in the bottom centre of the homepage. It’s not completely clear where a kaleidoscope – with images of iPods and trees – fits in with IP litigation, but the design is completely mesmerising.

So much so that the firm won a ‘rebranding of the year’ award last month. The amazing power of hypnosis triumphs again.
