Washington firm forges London partnership

WASHINGTON DC-based firm Crowell & Moring has established its London office as a multi-national partnership between English solicitors and US attorneys.

The partnership, which is relocating to Fleet Street later this month, is taking advantage of the Law Society's recent change in rules which will allow it to represent clients in litigation in courts in England and Wales.

UK solicitor Peter Teare, who has also qualified as an attorney in the US, will head the multi-national office, providing advice on a range of corporate and commercial matters involving English and European clients in both the UK and US.

Eldon Crowell, one of the firm's founding partners, will also divide his time between Washington DC and London.

"The establishment of the multi-national partnership is an exciting event for both the firm and me," says Teare.

"We have been successful in London because we have taken the best features of the American style of practice and applied them through English lawyers to the English market."

"We have more of a hands-on, commercial approach to the practice of law than some of the more traditional English firms."
