And then there were more. The Linklaters team advising PricewaterhouseCoopers on Lehman Brothers’ bankruptcy just keeps on growing.
As Now the magic circle firm is pulling out the stops on this side of the Atlantic <25 September). A week ago, when New York litigation head Larry Byrne appeared for PwC at Lehman’s bankruptcy filing, the list of US partners needed at Linklaters was still to be decided. Now the enlarged team has been confirmed. Joining Byrne is New York restructuring and insolvency boss, Martin Flics. Also keeping them company are fellow New York partners Adam Glass in structured finance, Mary Warren in bankruptcy, litigator Paul Hessler, Joshua Berick in corporate and Sabrena Silver in banking. Linklaters now has a fully formed transatlantic team similar to that used on Enron’s 2002 bankruptcy filing. And like Tony Bugg in London, who took the lead on Enron, Byrne is no stranger to that particular case. Since 2002, he has been advising Deutsche Bank on all of its Enron-related disputes state-side. Handy epic experience by way of preparation for Lehman. PS: International insolvencies require new thinking, says David Agay. Sullivan & Cromwell chairman Rodgin Cohen has deservedly garnered headline after headline in recent weeks. With almost four decades of experience, Cohen has won roles on deals that have kept him - and his firm - firmly at the centre of dealing with the US financial turbulence....
There may be a financial crisis on Wall St, but there are new opportunities aplenty in North Carolina. In Charlotte, America's second biggest financial centre and the home of both Bank of America and Wachovia, a whole bunch of firms are unnervingly upbeat while Wall Street collapses....
It isn’t just financial institutions that are feeling the heat on Wall Street this week. The collapse of Lehman, the acquisition of Merrill Lynch and the effective nationalisation of AIG has left dozens of lawyers facing life without their once lucrative client relationships...
