Offshore law firm Walkers has completed a management shake-up at its British Virgin Islands (BVI) office, appointing a new managing partner and a senior partner.
Heidi de Vries has moved from the firm's Cayman Island office to take up the managing partner's role. De Vries takes over from Simon Pascoe and advises on corporate law issues with an emphasis on investment funds. She has previously worked as a solicitor and barrister at Australia's Clayton Utz and before that she was a lawyer at Linklaters in London.
The newly-created senior partner job has gone to Stephen Adams. Adams has worked at the BVI office since it was set up in 2002, joining from trust company Portcullis TrustNet, where he was managing director. His practice encompasses commercial, corporate and international tax law and he has previously worked for Baker & McKenzie in Hong Kong and Canadian firm Miller Thompson.
Walkers' BVI office has almost tripled in size since it opened. It now has 11 lawyers and is looking to add a further three before the end of the year.
