Walker Morris hires Hammonds' commercial disputes head

Veteran partner David Williams has been at Hammonds since joining as an assistant solicitor in 1988. He joins Walker Morris as a partner in its commercial dispute resolution practice, bringing the number of partners in the group to three and the total number of lawyers to 23. The firm’s litigation group has 14 partners and 141 lawyers.

Williams’ practice focuses on corporate and fraud matters, financial regulatory issues, and trade and international disputes.

Walker Morris Managing Partner Ian Gilbert said: “We have a tremendously talented and renowned dispute resolution team  as part of our litigation group  and it’ll be further strengthened by the arrival of David Williams, an experienced and highly regarded lawyer.

Head of commercial dispute resolution Gwendoline Davies added: “David’s decision to leave his current post and join us adds significant additional resource to the team and sends out a clear signal to the market about our ambition. Yesterday Howard Kennedy announced the arrival of property partner Paul Groobey from Hammonds’ London office (29 July 2010).

Hammonds’ international head of commercial and dispute resolution Simon Miller, who is based in the Leeds office, will take on Williams’ role when he leaves at the end of October.
