Leeds firm Walker Morris has appointed former Eversheds partner Stephen Cirell as a consultant to its renewables, energy and resources team.
Cirell headed Eversheds’ local government team until July 2009, when he was seconded to Cornwall Council to lead its Green Cornwall programme.
Following the one-year secondment, Cirell became a consultant at Eversheds while also setting up his own consultancy firm, which specialises in low carbon economies. He will continue to run the business while advising on legal matters exclusively with Walker Morris.
Cirell said local authorities were becoming increasingly aware that a renewables strategy could help limit the impact of Government spending cuts.
Walker Morris has recently advised on a range of energy and renewables deals, including the South Hook Gas project which is a joint venture between ExxonMobil and Qatar Petroleum.
