Wachtell Lipton Rosen & Katz has made up six lawyers to the partnership in the New York firm’s latest round of promotions.
Corporate was the biggest beneficiary, receiving three promotions in the form of associates Matthew Guest, David Lam and Ante Vucic. Ian Boczko was promoted in litigation, while Damian Didden and David Kahan were made up in Wachtell’s antitrust and executive compensation groups respectively.
The US M&A powerhouse doubled the number of promotions this year compared to the three it made in 2007. That time the promotions came in corporate, litigation and finance and restructuring.
A source close to the firm said: “While it varies each year, six is probably one of the highest number of promotions the firm has seen. Wachtell clearly promotes because of talent and this year we’ve done particularly well.”
Wachtell is the second US firm to announce promotions this week. Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy made up four lawyers to the partnership across its Frankfurt, Munich, New York and Singapore offices (www.thelawyer.com, 3 November).
