Vietnamese firm YKVN has taken a partner from DLA Piper to launch its new office in Singapore.
K Minh Dang, who was the partner in charge of the Southeast Asia corporate practice at DLA Piper in Singapore, joins YKVN as a partner and the head of its new Singapore office, which opened today.
Dang is the only lawyer in YKVN’s Singapore office, which is focused on cross border transactions, but expects to be joined by four more lawyers by the end of the year.
“Establishing an office in the financial centre of Southeast Asia is a natural step for YKVN”, said Dang. “We will be closer to many top clients who maintain headquarters here, better able to serve Vietnamese clients with SGX listings and outbound acquisitions, and well-positioned to assist in the resolution of Vietnam related commercial disputes through arbitration in Singapore, which is emerging as the forum of choice for such disputes.”
Dang is experienced in international transactions including acquisitions, joint ventures, public and private financings and restructurings. Before joining DLA Piper in 2005, Dang headed White & Case’s Vietnam practice, establishing its Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh offices.
YKVN was established in 1999 and has more than 60 lawyers across offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
