I’m a third year non-law graduate struggling to get any work experience/vacation schemes.
I’m a third year non-law graduate and although I managed to get a weeks work experience in a small legal aid criminal law firm in my first year, I’m struggling to get any other work experience/vacation schemes. Although many have reassured me that it’s not just me, I feel that I’m at a disadvantage as I am a non-law student. Have you any advice in how I can secure any work experience coming from a non-law background?

On the contrary, most people with TC's on the LPC at my provider are GDL converts. You are better off that way than doing the traditional LLB, clearly.
Just make it clear to law firms that you really, truly want a legal career even though you are doing a different career and carefully link your current discipline to your career parth. For example, if you are studying criminology or forensic psychology and want to enter criminal practice then it will be easier than if you want to go into commercial practice and are currently studying Art History.
Networking is key to getting more placements. Your local JLD branch will let you sign up (probably) and use their events to get your face out there, known and in law firms.
