The Middle East has been a hot region for a good few years now, with many international firms setting up shop in Dubai and its surrounding jurisdictions.
There has been a spate of UK firms launching in the region in the past year, including Ashurst, Herbert Smith and Lovells, but not too many US firms have followed suit.
Until now, that is.
Rumours of a Dubai office launch from Gibson Dunn & Crutcher were confirmed by the firm's managing partner Kenneth Doran, who admitted that exploratory talks were underway.
The firm claims to have an extensive client base in the Middle East, although Doran said proper discussions have to take place before any firm decisions are made.
Either way, are the rumours enough to have the UK big guns shaking in their boots? Let's wait and see.
