US firms stump up cash for Kerry campaign

US law firms are throwing their weight behind Democratic candidate John Kerry by contributing more than a quarter of a million dollars to the presidential challenger’s campaign funds. Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom has emerged as the top contributor to Kerry’s campaign, giving $105,650 (£58,824). Of Kerry’s top 10 fundraisers, four are law firms, including Piper Rudnick which has given $77,050 (£42,900), Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky and Popeo which has donated $72,050 (£40,116), and Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld which has stumped up $45,550 (£25,361).
