Uría scoops plum role on Bankia float
Spanish firm Uría Menéndez has advised banking conglomerate Bankia on an IPO totaling €3bn (£2.6bn).
Uría Menéndez’s team included managing partner Luis de Carlos, capital markets partner Gabriel Núñez, senior associate Marta Ríos and associate Carlos Blanco, among others.
Davis Polk & Wardwell acted as US legal counsel for Bankia, and Linklaters acted as Spanish and US legal counsel for the underwriting syndicate.
The transaction involved an offer of more than 800 million shares, representing almost 48 per cent of Bankia’s share capital.
The deal also included an over-allotment option to purchase up to around 82 million shares, representing approximately 10 per cent of the total number of shares initially offered.
The offering was addressed to Spanish retail and qualified investors, as well as international qualified investors.
