A £2.9 million ship fire at Bristol in 1993, believed to have been started by a discarded cigarette, is now at the centre of a pending High Court battle. First Corporate Shipping, of St Pauls Churchyard, London EC4, which trades as Bristol Port Co, is being sued for damages and interest following the blaze in the hold of the MV Harefield at Royal Portbury Dock in Bristol on 18 April 1993.
