Desperately looking for a legal angle to the recent election of Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger as Pope Benedict XVI, The Snail was delighted to stumble upon one at BPP Law School.

Apparently His Holiness has a nephew currently hard at work at BPP in London, where - in a clear break from family tradition that has seen not only Joseph Ratzinger but older brother Georg join the priesthood - he is studying to be a solicitor.

So that will be bonus points at the Gates of Heaven for whichever firm is taking on the Pope's nephew as a trainee.
