Charles Russell's growth is beginning to accelerate, reaching a rate of 16 per cent in revenue and 22 per cent in PEP.
Rapid growth in revenue at the Cheltenham office has been a key driver for the firm, showing a 30 per cent year-on-year increase. The office has a strong finance backbone, with clients such as Cazenove, Collins Stewart and Schroders. It accounts for 12 per cent, or £7m, of the firm's £58.2m turnover.
The firm's lockstep for equity partners is quite rigid, starting at 60 points and ending on 110. Partners take five years to climb the ladder, accruing points at a rate of 10 a year. The top of equity is worth £365,000.
Charles Russell's partnership begins well before equity is reached. A solicitor is promoted to associate only if they fulfil the firm's criteria for partnership. The next step is salaried partner and the final position before joing the equity is junior equity partner, which includes a salary and a 10-equity point package.
Lateral partner hires are the exception to these rules, with some starting on a salary and moving on to high equity levels ahead of schedule.
