HOGAN & HARTSON has encountered a
spectacular rise in visibility recently, which has
been driven by a highly aggressive hiring campaign
that saw its total lawyer count grow by around 25
per cent.
In London during 2005 this was particularly
evident in corporate, capital markets and private
equity.
High-profile deals included London partner Dan
Maccoby advising Kingdom Hotels International on
its purchase of the Savoy Hotel and partners John Basnage and Liz Katkin advising Harmony Gold
Mining on its attempted $8.1bn (£4.6bn) takeover
of Gold Fields.
Hogan operates a merit-based remuneration
system, which includes a chunky 15 per cent bonus
pool for partners. Last year this totalled some $40m
(£22.86m).
