MILBANK TWEED Hadley & McCloy was back to
being sure and steady in 2005 after the rare partner
hire of outsourcing star Laurence Jacobs from Allen
& Overy in 2004.
European managing partner Phillip Fletcher said
IP litigation and outsourcing had performed “really
well”. But the Frankfurt office remains the firm’s
leading light, advising on deals such as
TV broadcaster ProSieben’s sale to media mogul Axel
Springer.
Partner compensation is based on a modified
lockstep in which partners can progress up and
down the ladder. Partners may also be accelerated
up the lockstep according to performance or achieve
above-plateau positions.
Appraisal is based on three-yearly performance.
