KIRKPATRICK & LOCKHART Nicholson Graham
in London is a UK LLP for regulatory reasons, but the
equity partners are also members of a Delaware
LLP. Consequently the firm operates a single profit
pool, with profit distributed via the latter LLP.
The legacy Nicholson Graham & Jones ran a
modified lockstep. This was set to run for a
two-year transitional period after the merger, during
which equity partners were guaranteed payment at
their respective lockstep levels.
This expires in January 2007. UK partners will
then be remunerated on the firmwide merit basis.
At just £308,000, Kirkpatrick’s average
PEP was among the lowest of all the US firms’ last year.
