DEBEVOISE & PLIMPTON’S London office saw
revenue rocket by a phenomenal 67.5 per cent on
2004’s figure, from $35m (£19.1m) to $56m (£32m).
Partners in the all-equity firm took home an
average of $1.68m (£960,000) globally. Debevoise
is one of the few remaining pure lockstep firms
with no bonus element to remuneration.
The firm enjoyed particular successes in funds
formation, an area in which London has been
recruiting heavily, as well as in M&A and international
arbitration. The latter was boosted early in 2006 by
the hire of Norton Rose partner Peter Rees.
Internationally, Moscow is proving a rich source
of London listings, while private equity, for clients
such as Clayton Dubilier & Rice and Providence
Equity Partners, continued to drive Debevoise’s
strong performance.
