Wilberforce Chambers has grown substantially this year, picking up the former head of chambers at 199 Strand David Phillips QC and Martin Hutchings from the same set, which dissolved this year.
Wilberforce also received two new QCs, Jonathan Karas and Michael Tennet, boosting its silk numbers to 18 for next year.
The set has also grown financially. Turnover increased by 15 per cent to break through the £25m mark, while RPB rose by 10 per cent to £554,000. This makes Wilberforce tenants the highest-earning at the bar on average, although contributions are relatively high at 16.5 per cent.
The revenue increase reflects an increase in the quality of work. Wilberforce appeared in seven House of Lords cases compared with just one the year before. Appeal Court appearances also increased by five this year to 33.
Highlights include advice to one of the non-executive directors on his role in the Equitable Life saga. |
