Blackstone Chambers' turnover has grown by 77 per cent over the past seven years and this year the set saw a 5 per cent increase to £25.5m. The set has the second-lowest silk-junior ratio of the top 30, with 28 QCs and 68 juniors.
Perhaps also because of the high number of silks the set topped the rankings for House of Lords appearances in 2004-05. Blackstone has retained a leading reputation in public and employment law, with cases last year including Dinah Rose's representation of Stephanie Villalba in her £7.5m discrimination claim against Merrill Lynch and David Pannick QC's appearance on behalf of Liberty in the House of Lords' Belmarsh appeal.
However, the set is now also recognised for its sport, fraud and regulatory work - areas that will continue to grow. |
